The Morgan-Beatus manuscript (Pierpont Morgan Library
New York，M SM .644) has in every respect claimed a central
place in Beatus-mss.studies. Because it is one of the oldest mss.
that have remained intact，and includes almost complete
repartory of pictorical content associated with the Commentary
on the Apocalypse of Beatus. Moreover colors of the
illuminations so extremely brilliant and forms of the images full
of energy，“estilo mozarabe” of 10th century in Spain
outstandingly appears in this ms.
In this paper，first，showing the history of the Morgan‐
Beatus　ms.，I would like to point out what problems to be solved
to know where it was executed.Secondly, on the illuminations
≪Heavenly Jerusalem≫(ff.222v.-223:two pictures uniquely are
placed side by side) of this Morgan-Beatus ms.，l’ll discuss in
detdail the meanings ofimages，the scheme(a kind of bird’s-eye
perspective) ，chromatic used color etc. to clear what they
intented to show.
