SHIMURA,Naoyoshi

Risshakuji Kinenden, memorial palace, is a
wooden architecture with imperial design style built
for the ceremony of the prince (later the Taisho
Emperor) Tohoku visit. Kinenden is located in the
precincts of Risshakuji temple, scenic sightseeing
spot in Yamadera district in Yamagata Pref.
One of the remarkable features of Kinenden is, it
is modeled after Kyoto Gosho, ancient imperial
palace in Kyoto, and we can see many of designs and
expressions with imperial style. Location, tells us a
part of most scrupulous planning, is planed in the
place with most panoramic view at the top of a cliff,
and the prince could enjoy its admirable views of
three directions when the windows opened up.
It was built in 41st Meiji period, 1908, and has
hundred years long history, equal to the worth of
cultural properties. Faculties and designs are well
preserved since the architecture was used only at
once when the prince visited. Kinenden was built by
Higashimurayama district government, however,
whole village people participated in preparing for the
honorable prince visit, and has been preserved
carefully for over hundred years. The plate on the
ridge shows us the name information who
participated in the construction project.
Kinenden is closed for the reason of management,
though,it is expected to care appropriately and to
open to the public as regional historical worthy
property.
