“Important cultural landscape” is the certification by
the MEXT to evaluate the outstanding historical scene
which remains history of land and feature of life culture
notably. Aterazawa area is center of Oe town and used
to be a castle town prospered with the shipping service
of the Mogami river. There are many historical buildings
remained such as warehouses, stores, temples and shrines
built from Edo era to early Showa era. Percentage of
historical building is about 15.5%. We report on the
classification system of various historical buildings and
the index for evaluation.
