Writing down people’s Dictation: from the several fragments of people’s lives

Writing at commoners’ dictation is one of the most valuable
methods in the studies of folklore. After having
studied Tosa Genji (土佐源氏)written by Miyamoto
Tsuneichi as at extbook，th e students in myc lass were
required to write down what they hear about the life of
the aged. What came out of the submitted reports is
potentiality of this method，w hich enables us to link
the individual history to the larger one. From the experience
of connecting two different “histories，” we were
able to deepen our thoughts concerning one’s memory，
story，a nd history.I n the dawn of the ‘Local Community
Age，’ the importance and possibility of the dictation
should be reconsidered
